What Is A Father?

It’s impossible for me to answer that question.

“There is no teacher equal to mother and there’s nothing more contagious than the dignity of a father,” – Amit Ray, from “World Peace: The Voice of a Mountain Bird”

Why? The only real answer to this question is a very personal one and it’s known only to you.

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years,” – Mark Twain

My dad passed away when I was young which meant I wasn’t able to share in his lifee as you might be doing with your dad. Oddly enough he lost his parents to a car accident when he was young and was raised by an older brother, who has also passed. And I am ashamed to confess that sometimes it’s hard for me to remember my dad – we had him for such a short time.

Yet every time I look in a mirror or look at my brother’s face I see my dad. And I remember the walks to the creamery to share our love of ice cream.

A dad is a believer! A person who believes in who you are and what you can accomplish in life. Whether it’s learning to ride your first bike or agonizing with you over that college entrance exam he believes you can do it.

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me,” – Jim Valvano

Your dad is one-of-a-kind as are you.You are an inseparable part of each other.

No matter where he, or you, are you will always be his kid. Most of us never grow up in dad’s eyes. If you have kids tell me that’s not true for you.

My daughter will always be my little girl even though she is married with her own kid. And that is how it should be!

A VERY HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL!
